this is an archive of season 2 of embodied emergence that took place in March 2026

Embodied Emergence is a community experiment in reclaiming our indigeneity while stepping into the responsibilities of our inheritance.

The lab will meet on four Saturdays on March 7, 14, 21, and 28 in Los Angeles. We will gather in the forest and build (and break apart) stories with each other and with the land through different invitations rooted in embodiment, emergence, connection with the land, grief circles, and group wisdom. This lab will be a co-created container that will be shaped by what each participant brings with the support of the lab facilitator and the land as we explore the following questions:

The invitations we will be experimenting with will be coming from many roots and tendrils inspired by the work of the Fierce Vulnerability Network, Forest Walk Invitations, the Gesturing Toward Decolonial Futures collective, the Creative Interventions Toolkit, and Francis Weller's book In the Absence of the Ordinary.

I need more details!

When: we will meet four Saturdays on March 7, 14, 21, and 28 from 11am to 3pm Pacific Time.

Where: we will meet in La Canada Flintridge each Saturday and drive up to our lab location in the Angeles Crest National Forest together.

Cost: this lab is offered on the gift economy with no expectation of monetary contribution.

What: the what will be shaped by the co-created container among the participants with support from the facilitator and the forest. In each gathering, the facilitator will guide the group through different experiments, invitations, and exercises rooted in the practices of embodiment, emergence, nonviolence, vulnerability, and decolonizing the body-mind.

Is this lab for me? this lab is for you if the questions above are interesting to you and you want to explore how we might approach them. This lab will invite you to enter into your stretch zone with a community of others. You don't need to have any "experience" or "expertise" or "knowledge" in any of the other words or concepts in this description besides feeling like you would benefit from this lab and that you have something to bring to the group. The lab will be capped to 7 participants.

About the facilitator: Angela is a visionary organizer and Kingian nonviolence trainer working towards a world where we have increased capacities to sit with our own and each other’s complexities. Angela stewards community containers where participants can share grief, practice conflict skills, and be co-opted into emergence inspired by the erotic, the intuitive, the divine, the other-than-human. Angela has facilitated workshops for and collaborated with Loving Practice, Asian American Justice Innovation Lab, Visionary Organizing Lab, Friends of the Urban Forest, and the Sacred Roots Collective.
